Geoff Thomas

Geoff Thomas is a former England and Crystal Palace footballer. As captain of Crystal Palace, he saw the team reach the FA Cup final in 1990.
In 2003, shortly after retiring from professional football Geoff was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), a blood cancer.
He was lucky, a bone marrow transplant from his sister in 2004 saved his life. The courage of patients around him inspired Geoff to help those with blood cancer.
Together with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, Geoff is working to raise funds to establish a network of national centres which will bring the results of groundbreaking research to patients more quickly.
Geoff launches new video campaign
Five blood cancer survivors aged from 7 to 67 years old joined Former England midfielder Geoff Thomas, who beat leukaemia, for his new video campaign. Shot for the Geoff Thomas Foundation working with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, the video will be shown at football grounds around the country.
The video was made by media agency Silver Fish for a very low fee and space at grounds has been donated free of charge.
The campaign, which features five blood cancer survivors, has been designed to raise awareness of Geoff’s work and to encourage people to get involved in the Geoff Thomas Foundation.
Blood cancer survivors who took part in the video are: Sam, 7, who is just finishing treatment for childhood leukaemia; Curtis, 15, who has recently finished treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma; Daisy, 21, who was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome when she was 16 and was saved by a stem cell transplant; Gavin, 36, who survived leukaemia as a child; and Brenda, 67, who has been in remission from leukaemia for over six years.
Please help Geoff beat blood cancers by sending this video to your friends.
